Day 1

I always thought that travelling in Europe has been made very easy by the EU. But when a fifteen and sixteen year old can't go trough the border security you start to question that. At least I did.

After checking my luggage me and my father went to pick up Lotte and drive to Schiphol. When I said goodbye to my father we checked in and waited for our plane to depart to Heathrow. We had a very beautiful sight of the sky from the plane, but I was glad that the flight only took around one hour.I don't mind flying, but I rather stand with two feet on the ground. When we got out of the plane we had to wait in a long queue for the border security. When it finally was our turn I thought that we could go to our hotel because I was pretty tired. With the emphasis on thought. Because apparently border security doesn't care whether you're tired or not. And they also didn't like the idea of a fifteen and sixteen year old doing an EIO and travelling on their own. So the border security questioned us about what we were doing here. They even asked us in what year Vanderlande, the company we are doing our EIO at, was established. I felt as if they would sent us away if I didn't answer in correct English. As in a fairytale when you want to cross a bridge, but a troll demands you to answer a riddle correctly, otherwise you'll die. Then we were put in a special area where we needed to wait, while they were calling our parents. (at least we thought they did) Luckily after ten minutes we were already allowed to go. After this cery warm welcome, we took the bus to our hotel. The hotel is a cute little typical english-looking house. The owner was very nice in comparison to 'the trolls'. So we finally got a true welcome to the UK. He showed us where we could buy food and other things. So we bought pizza and watched films in our hotel room. And now I can finally write this after deciphering the handwriting of the owner for the wifi. I'm glad that we're now finally safe and sound in our hotel. And I'm really looking forward to going to London tomorrow!
